Three Years of FLO: Building Trust Through Better Communication
🎉 Three Years of The FLO Group
October 1st marks three years since I started The FLO Group.
Looking back, it’s been quite a journey — plenty of obstacles, plenty of learning, and most importantly, an incredible opportunity to work with seniors, families, senior-care providers, health professionals, educators, mentors and community organizations.
One thing I’ve learned is that trust isn’t given — it’s earned.
The senior community doesn’t simply open its doors to anyone, nor should it. Over these past three years, I’ve worked hard to earn that trust by showing up, listening, educating, learning and allowing people to experience our technology for themselves.
That has probably been one of the most meaningful parts of this entire journey.
We started with a simple belief: people deserve more accessible and affordable options when hearing and communication become difficult.
Today, we continue introducing people to our FLO-TruBalance® open-ear bone-conduction hearing amplifiers — a non-medical hearing alternative designed to enhance sound clarity while keeping the ears open.
For many people, this is still unfamiliar technology. New ideas take time. They require education, demonstrations, conversations and, most importantly, results.
And over these three years, I’ve had the privilege of seeing those results firsthand.
Seeing someone reconnect with a conversation, communicate more easily with family, or simply experience clearer sound again reminds me why we started.
When I look back to where FLO was three years ago, we simply weren’t in a position to do many of the things we’re doing today. We weren’t developing pilot programs with senior-care providers, building relationships with health professionals and experts, participating in evaluations and research initiatives, or exploring pathways for greater recognition of assistive hearing technology.
Those opportunities didn’t happen overnight. They came through years of conversations, demonstrations, feedback, persistence and learning.
Along the way, FLO has continued to evolve through new collaborations, affiliations, pilot programs, research initiatives, community events and relationships with people who have generously shared their knowledge and experience with me.
To the seniors, families, senior-care providers, health professionals, educators, mentors, community organizations and everyone else who has welcomed us, challenged us, guided us and believed in what we are building:
Thank you.
Three years later, we’re still learning.
Still evolving.
Still educating.
Still building.
And we’re just getting started.
Our goal remains the same: to help make hearing and communication solutions more accessible and affordable — and ultimately help improve connection and quality of life.
Here’s to Year Four and everything ahead. ❤️
